this task:

We are looking for volunteers to help teach coding and introduce new technologies, such as AI or machine learning, to children aged 8 to 15. We offer two main formats:

  1. Sunday Classes: These weekly sessions focus on teaching Scratch, Calliope, and Python. To volunteer for Sunday classes, you will need at least B1-level German, as the classes are conducted in German.

  2. Holiday Camps and Workshops: During school holidays, we run coding camps, as well as one-day workshops lasting about 3 hours. The workshops cover a wide range of topics, from 3D printing to AI. These can be held in either German or English, depending on the volunteer’s language skills.

How it increases happiness

  1. Empowerment and Confidence: By teaching children coding and new technologies, we help them gain valuable skills. Mastering these skills builds confidence, which leads to a sense of achievement and pride.

  2. Creative Expression: Programming allows children to express themselves creatively by building their own games, apps, or digital art. This creativity fosters joy and a sense of ownership over their learning.

  3. Sense of Community: The workshops create a collaborative environment where children and volunteers work together. This shared experience builds connections and friendships, enhancing overall happiness through social interaction.

  4. Future Opportunities: Learning to code opens doors to exciting careers and opportunities, giving children hope and excitement about their future.

  5. Engagement and Fun: With innovative and interactive tools like Scratch, Calliope, AI, and 3D printing, the children are learning through play. This makes the process enjoyable, keeping them engaged and enthusiastic about learning.

By creating an environment that combines learning, creativity, social engagement, and future possibilities, the project promotes happiness both in the short term and for the long-term well-being of the children.
