Our local southern resident orcas rely on the endangered chinook salmon as their main food source to survive. Due to habitat loss, climate change, and increased pollution, it has become even more difficult for migrating salmon to make the journey home to grow their population. In order to save our orcas, we must start with our salmon. Join Sound Salmon Solutions in celebration of Orca Recovery Day by planting native trees and shrubs along the North Fork Stillaguamish River to restore salmon spawning habitat which will in turn support the recovery of our southern resident orcas.
They day will include training, refreshments, and an opportunity to learn how riparian restoration is connected to the recovery of our southern resident orcas.
No previous experience is necessary. Volunteers ages 5+ with parent/guardian are encouraged to join us. Exact location will be shared with registered participants.
How it increases happiness
By joining Sound Salmon Solutions for a day of planting, you will be directly contributing to salmon and orca recovery, connecting with an organization and staff who are passionate about what they do, and meeting other like minded individuals. Not only will you leave the day knowing you did good, you will also leave with a sense of connection to pacific salmon and the Stillaguamish River. We can't wait to welcome you to our community of volunteers!
