this task:

Connecticut, North American, and Worldwide Problem

North America has a rapidly growing population struggling with moderate to severe ambulatory disabilities, projected to be greater than 122 million people by 2030. The most common are caused by acquired brain and spinal cord injuries (Stroke, unintentional accidents, cancers, spinal cord injuries, and diabetes) and have a whopping daily occurrence rate of 300 per hour! By helping to fund our clinics, we can begin to shift the health inequities associated with all people with acquired brain and spine injuries, one community at a time. We already have been doing this for over 15 years by making all our services client-centered:

  • Traditional Physical Therapy (clinic-centered): Insurance payors only allow ten to twenty 30-minute sessions per year, with strict appointment rules that serve the clinic's cash flow needs. More than half the time, the patient may be as late as one hour due to multiple possibilities like an unexpected bowel movement or their non-emergent medical transportation being late when caught in a traffic jam. Regardless, the client never receives enough hands-on services to create a gain in functional independence.

  • MovingWithH.O.P.E. has an open appointment schedule (client centered) that accommodates most reasons for being late, allowing for a 60 or more minutes late arrival (as long as they call and explain the reason for being late) and we make each session a minimum of 90 minutes, 2x per week. Our average client receives over 150 hours of services per year. It is no wonder that we have a 100% success rate, with a 100% happiness rating!

  • Traditional wellness/recovery cash fees by traditional PT is $125/hour. We use a "pay-what -you-can" fee schedule so everyone wanting services can afford them!

How it increases happiness

Our clinic offers year-round services to those with moderate to severe acquired brain and spinal cord injuries. Our services target physical, emotional, and social support domains, enabling them to increase their health, wellness, and independent living in their home and community. The happiness we create by improving a loved one's activities of daily living extends directly to family members and all caregivers, too!
